The Story
The Sickskiing.com concept was born 3 Octobers ago. Myself and 3 friends were planning on moving to Leavenworth, WA and becoming career ski bums, skiing lots of powder and generally being awesome.
We found that our dream was harder to obtain than originally thought. First of all, landlords in Leavenworth tend to shy away from renting to groups of 20 something males with zero rent and credit history. We ended up in isolated and rainy Index, Wa.
Secondly, none of us made nearly as much money as we thought we would, and it barely snowed the first 3/4 of the season. We all were finding that being poor wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. El Nino is not kind to Stevens Pass.
Thirdly, we discovered that honestly, we all sucked. Nobody would really want to see pictures or video of our pathetic attempts of flailing down the mountain.
So, at the end of the season, we all went our separate ways. “They were the best of times, they were the worst of times.”
Josh went back to school, and has now landed a sweet collection of jobs doing internet website graphic design cool trendyness.
Joe went back to school in Bozeman and ski instructs at Big Sky.
Caleb lives in Leavenworth and works at a bar.
And I, Woody, instigator of all this mess, am now Married, selling outdoor gear, and now headed into my third full-time season of ski instruction. I live in Plain, WA.
